TEST MATCHES

Europe v Asia

An inaugural Test Match between teams representing Europe and Asia was played in Kuala Lumpur , Malaysia in July 2003.


The Second Europe v. Asia Test Match took place at Winchmore Hill Bowling Club, Winchmore Hill, London, England over four days in July 2005.
Each team consisted of six men and six women bowlers, all of whom played games of singles, pairs, triples and fours over sixteen sessions of play, starting at 09.00 hrs each day.

The team to represent Asia was selected by the Asian Lawn Bowls Federation following the conclusion of the 2005 Asian Bowls Championships.

The four umpires appointed by the English Bowls Umpires Association who officiated at this international event were :

John Cope, David Rice, Vic Perry and Allan Thornhill.

Seventh European Team Bowls Championships

The Seventh Championships were successfully held from Sunday 22 February to Friday 27 February 2009 (inclusive) at Athena Beach, Paphos, Cyprus, sponsored by Constantinou Bros. Hotels and the Cyprus Tourism Organisation.

Teams representing fourteen countries competed together with two teams invited to participate by the EBU.

The event was won by Scotland (248 points); England (246) came second and Guernsey (218) finished in third place.

The best individual performance was by Cyril Renouf (Jersey - 69 points), ahead of Lucy Beere (Guernsey - 68) and Colin Peacock (Scotland - 67).

Eighth European Team Bowls Championships

At the General Meeting of EBU Members held in Paphos, Cyprus on Tuesday 24 February 2009, it was decided the Eighth Championships should be held in Haarlem, Netherlands in 2011.

Further information will be posted on this website as soon as it is known, but this is not likely to be earlier than March 2010.
